Government recently announced changes to some of the home ownership products and programmes administered by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities that will take effect from 15 May 2023. By introducing changes to the First Home Grant, Government hopes to make it easier for first home buyers to build new homes or buy newly built homes. Impact of foreign buyer ban

The Labour Government’s election promise to ban non-resident foreign property buyers from buying existing property in New Zealand kicked off on 22 October 2018. So far, the change to the Bill seems to have had little impact on the market, despite dire predictions, and buyer activity remains stable.
