Refinancing
Sometimes there are advantages to refinancing, such as benefiting from a lower interest rate or being allowed to borrow more from another lender than the one your are currently with.

Top Ups
Rather than refinancing a home loan to borrow for a particular purpose, such as buying an investment property; or holiday home; carrying out home improvements etc. I will try to use the existing bank, unless my clients prefer to move their mortgage elsewhere for some good reason. Chances are that a top up will prove less expensive because there may be no or less legal costs, valuation fees and so on.

I come to the role with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the private sector, having performed in many senior roles particularly in Sales and Marketing and I also have extensive experience in analysing the Operational and Financial Performances of companies I have worked for in the past.

My professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Property and a Masters of Business Administration. I have also been awarded the Senior Prize in Property from Auckland University in 2005.

Having worked in the banking industry for 8 years, Steve Pikia has an extensive knowledge of lending and first-hand experience with credit policy.

Prior to joining Mortgage Express, Steve worked at BNZ as a Banking Advisor and a Bank Manager, specialising in retail lending and insurance. He holds a Diploma in Business and a Bachelor in Business, majoring in management and marketing.

No stranger to the mortgage and insurance industry, Stuart Dowie’s background includes 15 years managing his own mortgage broker business and a further 15 years in the IT Industry, with a focus on Dealer Account Management roles.

A key component to being an effective Mortgage Adviser, and something that Stuart places considerable emphasis on, is ongoing and straightforward communication. “It starts and finishes with listening to the client.
