‘It will all work out’ – How one mortgage adviser's trust in the journey has helped her clients reach their destination...

Annabelle (Belle) Lewis’ start to the financial advising industry was a unique one. Originally, she had planned to have a career in political science, but merely three weeks after graduating with a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy, the overarching Covid pandemic hit, leaving her with little to no job prospects. In such a competitive industry, instead of letting the pandemic ruin her career plans, Belle strategically pivoted, and decided to focus her efforts on starting a career in financial advising.

Fast forward three years and Belle has recently been announced as the latest winner of the Astute New Member of the Year award. When asked what she thought of this impressive achievement Belle said, “It is pretty surreal.”

“I worked very hard to get to where I am today but knowing that I am making a positive impact with my work, that’s pretty awesome!”

But for Belle, the work she does every day helping her clients is not all about the accolades or the recognition. Belle strives to do the best in everything she does and consistently pushes herself out of her comfort zone, but when it all comes down to it, she just genuinely loves helping people.

“As a mortgage adviser we often see the stress people go through…we counsel them, we hold their hands through the journey, and stop people from freaking out or backing out completely.”

Belle recalls a time she helped a first home buyer who was struggling with the overwhelming process of securing their first home loan: “By explaining the process and working with this client for a year, I helped them put in an offer for a house, and a month later, just before Christmas they had secured their very first home.”

Belle hopes to grow her business into a more sustainable model and extend her services in the next few years. And with her positive attitude and outlook on life, the future is looking promising. Belle’s advice to anyone starting in the financial industry or their own business is to “absorb everything, take every possible opportunity, go to every seminar and networking group – ask people to join you for that coffee!”

Belle feels very grateful to have had the opportunity to have worked with so many different clients from all walks of life and helped them achieve their property dreams. She strongly believes that trusting the process and the journey is so important. “It’s never too early to start asking for financial assistance and advice,” she says. Belle reassures her clients that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
